Beginners Glass Beadmaking (1 day)

Join us at our Glasgow studio for a day, learning to make glass beads.

The process of glass bead making is simple to learn, and once you master the basics, the possibilities for design and artistic innovation are limitless. It’s also highly addictive, and surprisingly relaxing!
The day starts at 10am with a cup of tea (of course…), and an orientation session on the equipment, glass, and studio setup, including a brief discussion of studio health and safety.
The rest of the day is devoted to learning to make glass beads! Various techniques will be covered, and more time can be given to to those which particularly interest you.

As you complete each bead, it will go straight into a kiln to anneal overnight. The class will move forward at a pace to suit you, so you can be sure of a full grasp of each principal as we proceed.
Your beads will be ready for you to collect, or be posted on to you free of charge, the following morning.

Bead Making

Our maximum student to tutor ratio is 2:1, meaning you will have our full attention for the whole day. This allows us to remain flexible to pursue ideas or techniques which might crop up during the day, while still ensuring you are well grounded in the basics.
Nominally, the class ends at 4:30pm, but we find it can drift on a bit sometimes. We don’t mind, as we understand just how compelling beadmaking can be!
